I haven't been actively marketing Cognigen and it's products for some time.
When the founder of Cognigen Networks, Kevin Anderson, died last year, I wasn't sure what was going to happen to Cognigen, so I pulled in my advertising to see what would happen.
That wasn't the only reason I had for slowing down promoting Cognigen, but it was the precipitating factor.
In December, things started to happen that began to eliminate my doubts, but they haven't coalesced enough to be really confident in restarting my marketing efforts.
Late in 2007, Cognigen Networks completed the acquisition of Commission River, Inc. and began to announce the changes in their affiliate/agent program.
Commission River will take over management of Cognigen marketing and the compensation plan will undergo some big changes.
I believe we'll see the name "Cognigen" fade into the background as those of us who are independent agents do more marketing and advertising under our own names. I don't know this for sure, it's just a feeling I have.
I'll do most of my telecom marketing under my Dilbeck Communications brand.
So, for now, I'm only going to be promoting Commission River products actively, even though I still have hundreds of links to Cognigen products and services out there in cyberland.
Until further notice, I urge you not to join as a Cognigen agent. That may or may not change in the future.
In the meantime, if you want to promote top-quality telecommunications products and services, you are welcome to become an affiliate through Commission River. Unlike some of the other telecom marketing companies, there is no charge to become an agent with Commission River. You can join, look over the marketing materials, check out the products and services, and read the forum to get an idea of what you can promote.
Hopefully, the uncertainty will continue to fade as new plans are announced.
One of the exciting products offered by Commission River is 1-800-FREE411. Why pay when you call directory assistance for a phone number? Just call 1-800-FREE411.
If you own or manage a business in a highly-competitive niche you may want to look into the low cost of intercept advertising on directory assistance calls. It can be an effective way to get new customers when they are in the mood to purchase.
Say, for instance, you own a small pizza parlor. You can advertise your service for pennies when someone calls for the number of the local Pizza Hut or Dominoes. If the person on the phone decides to take advantage of your special, 1-800-FREE411 can connect them right to you when they are in a buying mood, for only a few dollars. How's that for targeted advertising at just the right time.
The same would be true if you owned a small hardware store or building supply business. You could advertise when someone called for the number of the local Lowe's, Home Depot, or other large competitor. Perhaps your targeted advertising could intercept a few of those callers and bring them to your business.
This is a brand new marketing venue that most small businesses know nothing about, so far. Calling 1-800-FREE411 instead of 411 is getting a lot of national exposure and their share of the directory assistance calls is growing.
If you live in a city of a million or more, someone may already be advertising on 1-800-FREE411 and you can see it in action by calling and asking for the number of your biggest competitor or several of your bigger competitors. You could be advertising your business on those calls. Even if they don't call right then about your special offer, you can start establishing mind share for a few pennies per call.
