12/11/2007 - 18th EIDQ Association plenary meeting in Riga well attended with its focus on ‘Directory Assistance in a Web World’
The 18th EIDQ Association plenary meeting took place in Riga (29-31 October 2007), kindly hosted by Lattelecom SIA.
With its central focus on the theme of 'Directory Assistance in a Web World’, more than 90 delegates were drawn from across Europe and the US to attend this plenary meeting.
The half day, 'DA in a Web World’ session, led by Mr. Hans Van den Outenaar, product marketing manager KPN, was the key session of the plenary with a unique gathering of expert speakers. These included, Mr. Dominic Blackburn, new technology director, 192.com; Mr. Matt Booth, senior vice president and program director, The Kelsey Group; Mr. Antonio Cortijo, head of directories, Schober Information Group; and Mr. Toon Lowette, founder of Grid Electronric Publishing Consultancy.
Another highlight of the plenary meeting was the session, "Mobile Search: a view of the future". This session was lead by Mr. Dave Shaw, chairperson of the EIDQ Business Strategy Working Group. In what was a very animated session, Mrs. Bena Roberts, founder of BKI Media, Mr. Jens Andersen, CEO MobilePeople and Mr. Jussi-Pekka Partanen, head of mobile search at Nokia all contributed their in depth views on the future developments in mobile search.
On the third day of the plenary, André Michotte, marketing director, Belgacom Directory Services, presented the approved EIDQ position paper on mobile listings . With its first ever fully supported position paper, the EIDQ Association wants to support innovative services that will enable customers to reach non-listed mobile subscribers whilst still respecting the privacy of mobile subscribers.
"The feedback from our members was very positive", said EIDQ chairperson Günther Baierl. "The attendees received an enormous amount of useful market information and it is no wonder that we have seen a significant increase in our membership figures. With this growth in our membership it has allowed us the freedom to lower the yearly membership fee for 2008 to €5000, precisely half the price three years ago."
The next plenary meeting will take place in Dubrovnik (28-30 April 2008) kindly hosted by Softmethod GmbH.
