09/02/2007 - Yellow Book USA buys Paradise Yellow Pages
The USA's oldest and largest independent yellow pages publisher has acquired a Hawaii-based telephone directory publisher.
Yellow Book USA said Thursday that it has acquired The Paradise Yellow Pages from Paradise Media Group LLC and plans to deliver state-of-the-art print and Web-based directories in the islands. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The Paradise Yellow Pages, which has published in the islands since 2000, has offered low advertising rates and special features to Hawaii businesses.
Yellow Book said the acquisition will bring more experience and a national reputation for user-friendly directories and low-cost leads to isle businesses.
"I have been watching Yellow Book's growth and success for years, and admire the organization that its CEO, Joe Walsh, has built," said David Akina, founder of Paradise Yellow Pages. "I am pleased that Paradise Yellow Pages will be working with a company that shares the same values."
Yellow Book has no plans for immediate change at Paradise Yellow Pages, and Akina and other employees will stay on, the company said.
Yellow Book, which serves 46 other states, expects to circulate 785,000 directories throughout Hawaii this year, with specific editions for Kauai, Oahu, Maui and the Big Island.
